Axis Communications AB, a leader in the converging field of wired and wireless network connectivity, today announced that it has provided their AXIS 9010 Bluetooth(TM) Access Points for the Holiday Inn on Wall Street, in cooperation with Registry Magic (Nasdaq: RMAG). This allows the Holiday Inn to become the first hotel in the world equipped with cutting-edge Bluetooth wireless technology, supporting a range of interactive services. The Bluetooth Access Points enable hotel guests to check in and out, get into their rooms, and pay for meals at the in-house restaurant, all by using their cell phones. Axis Communications provided the Bluetooth Access Points in this cooperation with Motorola and Ericsson, among others, for this groundbreaking project. "Axis Communications proved to be the only company that could deliver the functional and self contained Bluetooth Access Point solution for this important project," said John Falcone, Executive Vice President of Registry Magic. "We are impressed by the capabilities of Axis' technology and their wireless access platform, which supports our Consumer Payment Network solution." "The Holiday Inn on Wall Street project is a good example of how our access system platform can support a wide range of application in public areas and we are very exited over Registry Magic's Consumer Payment Network solution", said Torbjörn Wård, GM Axis Communications Mobile Internet Division. AXIS 9010- Bluetooth Access Point The AXIS 9010, part of the Axis Communications system platform for wireless connectivity, enables the rapid creation of wireless ad-hoc connection to the Internet and local area networks (LANs). Users of laptops, personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones and other mobile devices that are equipped with Bluetooth wireless technology can use the Bluetooth Access Point to make a broadband connection to the Internet without having to detour through a mobile phone network. They also have access to e-mail, their corporate network, as well as localized information. The solution gives businesses such as hotels, airports and shopping centers the opportunity to become their own mobile Internet service provider.
