Axis Communications has released a new print server aimed at customers working in branch offices or small businesses. The AXIS 1650 Network Print Server, which has been developed in cooperation with Canon, enables printers to be easily shared over a network. Canon will sell the product alongside a series of its entry-level printers. Canon's initial order for the AXIS 1650 is worth approximately 200,000 Euros, with a potential for significantly larger volumes in the near future.

The long and successful cooperation between Axis and Canon has generated substantial sales for Axis over the years. Through the cooperation around AXIS 1650, the new customized print server will make networking capabilities an integrated part of Canon's printer offering to the fast-growing SOHO and small business markets. "This new line of entry-level devices further extends Canon's product line and we're excited about its prospects for success," said Kazuyoshi Akiyoshi, Staff Manager of Document System Planning Department, Canon Sales Co., Inc. "A growing number of customers are working in branch offices or small businesses and they're looking for affordable solutions designed for their needs. We know from before that Axis is a very reliable partner and together we can deliver the cost-efficiency, flexibility and quality that these customers are looking for." The AXIS 1650 will also be brought to market by Axis through the company's regular distribution channels from mid-October 2004.
