Axis Communications launches a new advanced network camera that is simple to connect to both analog and digital networks. Since the camera has dual compatibility, companies can gradually upgrade their equipment without having to make a major one-off investment in a completely new digital system. The camera is aimed at the professional security sector and will be demonstrated for the first time at the IfSEC security exhibition in Birmingham, UK, May 21-24. With the AXIS 2420 camera, companies can purchase the latest technology and use it directly within their existing analog systems, while gradually connecting the cameras in a new network-based solution. Traditional security cameras have been analog and it has not been possible to connect them to a network, while the new generation of cameras is completely IP-based. The demand for network cameras in the global security industry doubles each year and Axis will consolidate its market position with the new camera. "This is the first professional camera with dual compatibility and the latest technology for the security business. The AXIS 2420 Network Camera is a serious breakthrough for digital networked technology in the security industry," says Per Palm, Technical manager, SOS Alarm. The Axis 2420 camera will be sold at a price of less than USD 1,100 and is equipped with a large number of security features, including motion detection and event triggered alarm handling.
