Axis new audio solution, the AXIS 2191 Audio Module, connects to a network camera and transmits sound in the same simple way as today's network cameras transmit images. The addition of audio not only increases the benefits of network cameras, it also gives Axis a stronger position outside the conventional security field. For example, Axis' audio solutions can be used to reinforce visual communication in the areas of web attraction and remote monitoring applications. Conferences and meetings will now be possible to attend via the Internet. With the AXIS 2191 users have the option to add an extra dimension to existing visual applications. Axis' Audio Module connects directly to a network camera. Sound and images can be transmitted in real time via the Internet without the need for any special software or a dedicated PC. Virtually all modern PCs feature both microphones and loudspeakers and are thus capable of connecting via a web browser to a network camera with audio capability. The added audio functionality is a natural development for Axis, following the success of the network camera. Bearing in mind, the large existing customer base for today's network camera, the market potential for Axis' Audio Module is considered to be significant. The AXIS 2191 Audio Module will be introduced on the market in November.
