Axis Provides Singapore Airlines with Print Servers in Major Deal

Report this content

Axis Communications has secured an USD 200,000 order for print servers from Singapore Airlines. The print servers support both LAN and IBM mainframe environments simultaneously, which was a major reason for choosing Axis as a supplier. The print servers are part of the airline's objective to standardize its IT environment. Axis will deliver the AXIS 5470e SNA Print Server, which is one of the most advanced in the market. It enables a single printer to be connected to a local area network (LAN), and to be used from PC/UNIX systems as well as IBM systems. This is an attractive function for companies that have complex computer environments and stringent security requirements, such as banks, insurance companies, and transport and logistics companies. Given the major companies' needs to rationalize printing costs without compromising print-out security, Axis sees a great market potential for print servers that can handle various types of computer environments. Today, many of these companies have begun to shift from costly systems with dedicated parallel printing systems to uniform solutions based on Axis print servers.
