Axis to streamline business

Axis Communications continues its ongoing streamlining of business and sells the product Mobile Access Server (MAS) to the management team of this product area. MAS is the part of Axis mobile Internet business, which is focused on systems sales to operators. Thus its activities differ from Axis' core line of business. Axis intends to subscribe for a five-year convertible debenture of SEK 7.5 M in the new company. This corresponds to a potential ownership share of 47.5 percent. "This structural measure turns Axis into a pure networking company. The unlicensed radio technologies still have a large strategic importance to Axis, but we believe that the Mobile Access Server concept will benefit by developing as a separate company," says CEO Peter Ragnarsson. Axis continues its other activities within Mobile Internet and wireless technology, including the AXIS 9010 Bluetoothä access point and other wireless network products. These operations have already attracted substantial interest, particularly from Japan but also other markets, where Axis has established and strong customer relations. BLUETOOTH is a trademark owned by the Bluetooth SIG, Inc.
