HEALTH AND WELLNESS FROM THE INSIDE: CANYON RANCH UNVEILS NEW SPIRITUAL AND CREATIVE ARTS PROGRAMMING
Since its inception in 1979, Canyon Ranch has always embraced an integrative approach to wellness and offered programming that values health on all levels. As part of the brands ongoing development of holistic activities that support a balanced and healthy lifestyle, Canyon Ranch has announced the expansion of their spirituality and creative arts departments to include the addition of new services and physcial spaces at their destination resorts in Tucson, Arizona and Lenox, Massachusetts. The experts at Canyon Ranch believe these disciplines can help one to explore and connect more deeply with what brings meaning, value and purpose in life.
At Canyon Ranch, spirituality doesn’t refer to a religion or religious beliefs – the programmes focus on self evaluation and the connectedness of everything; from each individual to all things around them. Part of the Canyon Ranch ethos is to employ creative arts and spirituality to create a connection between the often dramatic physical changes that can be brought about at the resort and the emotional/internal ones.
Examples of the innovative spirituality services and mini workshops that are now available include Celebrating the Divine Feminine, in which feminine gifts such as intuition and passion are explored and celebrated, helping guests to embrace their current stage of life; Finding your Spirituality Through Fitness, where a spiritual service provider shares tips to deepen your daily exercise routine so it becomes a meditative practice; and Floating Meditation, a session that utilizes the power of water and guided imagery to allow for healing, relaxation and insight.
In support of the added spirituality programs, Canyon Ranch Tucson opened its new Spiritual Wellness Centre in February, an area specifically designed to give guests the opportunity to explore activities that resonate with their spirit.The spacious centre allows guests to focus on introspection whilst in the tranquil surroundings of the resort. A Zen garden and Sanctuary Building will also be completed in spring this year, adding even more opportunities for quiet individual meditation and group workshops.
At Canyon Ranch, creative arts is viewed as another method for tapping into ones inner resources in a joyful, natural way, allowing guests to communicate their thoughts and feelings in a way that is beyond words. Examples of just added creative arts workshops include jewellery and pottery making, poetry, water colour, and create your own bath products. At Canyon Ranch Tucson these activities are available in two designated Art Studios which feature dry and wet areas to accommodate the needs of each service. Some sessions marry creative arts with the beauty of the Arizona desert through outdoor excrusions, such as Sketch & Paint the Sonoran Desert or a Photography Hike, in which participants first venture to a location outside of the resort and then are guided on how to use the chosen medium to create their own works of art.
