One of the highlights of the AIEN’s annual International Energy Summit is the AIEN award ceremony, which this year will take place at the Intercontinental Miami, Florida on Wednesday May 31.

The awards celebrate impactful industry achievements, underpinned by international energy negotiations and transactions that promote and embody the principles of the AIEN in the energy industry. This year, AIEN has recognized achievements in five categories: Deal of the Year, Venture of the Year, Discovery of the Year, Energy Transition Initiative of the Year and CSR Campaign of the Year.

We wish all the nominees the very best of luck and are looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic evening at our annual awards dinner.

Deal of the Year

This award recognizes an outstanding and noteworthy M&A transaction.

  1. Chevron acquisition of Renewable Energy Group, Inc
  2. Eni acquisition of the Tango FLNG unit from EXMAR Group
  3. Omega Acquisition, Inc. acquisition of Continental Resources, Inc

Venture of the Year

This award recognizes a new and significant commercial partnership, joint venture, arrangement or initiative (other than M&A).

  1. Angola: The formation of Azule Energy, the 50/50 joint venture between bp and Eni
  2. Global: Repsol sale of 25% of its upstream business to EIG to create a strategic partnership
  3. Qatar: QatarEnergy, TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil, Shell, ConocoPhillips and Eni for their North Field East project

Discovery of the Year

This award will be given to a company who has made a highly significant oil or gas discovery, or an addition to discovered resources through exploration and appraisal activities.

  1. Egypt: Chevron, Eni and Tharwa Petroleum Company for their Nargis-1 offshore discovery
  2. Guyana: ExxonMobil, Hess and CNOOC for their new discoveries in the Stabroek block
  3. Namibia: TotalEnergies, QatarEnergy, Impact Oil and Gas, and NAMCOR for their Venus-1X discovery

Energy Transition Initiative of the Year

This award recognizes those leading the way in reducing carbon impacts through technology and innovation or creating targets to manage performance and aligning with global energy transition commitments.

  1. bp for acquiring renewable natural gas company Archaea Energy Inc. to support its net zero ambition
  2. Hess and the Government of Guyana for their landmark Carbon Credits Purchase Agreement
  3. ExxonMobil, CF Industries and EnLink Midstream landmark emissions-reduction project in Louisiana

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Campaign of the Year

This award recognizes organizations that have demonstrated positive influence on surrounding communities, promote teamwork toward sustainable, long-term impacts, and encourage active employee participation beyond financial contributions.

  1. Chevron for its SI Project developed at Jesus Municipal Hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  2. ReconAfrica for its water, education and health projects in the Kavango Basin of Namibia
  3. Shell for its water project improving and expanding the network of existing water for the benefit of the communities in Bolivia
