When Scandinavia’s biggest hotel with 814 rooms opens at Bella Center in summer 2011, it will be in partnership with Comwell. The name of the hotel will thus be Bella Sky – Com-well Hotel Copenhagen.

A new hotel costing DKK 1.6 billion is not an everyday occurrence in Copen-hagen. And the two 24-storey hotel towers will also be built with an inclina-tion of 15 degrees, a major engineering achievement. “It will be a fantastically impressive hotel in every way, a landmark for Co-penhagen and really good business,” says Bella Center’s Managing Director, Arne Bang Mikkelsen, who today signed a collaboration agreement with Comwell’s President & CEO Preben Nesager. “With Comwell, Bella Sky has partnered with Denmark’s best meetings and conference organiser. According to the research institute Catinét (IFKA), Comwell enjoys the best reputation among hotel chains in Denmark. This gives Bella Sky just the right profile,” says Arne Bang Mikkelsen. For Preben Nesager, the partnership with Bella Sky Hotel is not just ‘com-mon sense’ given so many Comwell customers enquire about a large con-ference hotel in Copenhagen. “It is actually 23 years ago that we first discussed the idea of building a hotel next to Bella Center. Back then it was already an incredibly good idea – and it certainly hasn’t become less so,” says Preben Nesager. “In collaborating on the Bella Sky hotel, Comwell will also be able to cater for the really big conferences, which is one of Bella Center’s competencies,” says Preben Nesager. “And we can benefit from all the Comwell customers who for ages have been wanting a Comwell hotel in Copenhagen for meetings and conferences or for golf, spa and wellness stays,” adds Arne Bang Mikkelsen. Bella Sky is being built by Bella Center and is run in close collaboration with Comwell under a long-term contract. Facts • Comwell has 12 hotels, 641 employees and annual revenue of DKK 500 million. • Bella Center has 230 employees and annual revenue of more than DKK 400 million. 2009 saw record visitor numbers with 1.2 million guests. • The four-star Bella Sky Hotel will have 814 rooms, 32 meeting rooms and 175 employees in addition to Bella Center’s workforce.
