New design scene is a professional playground
Good design needs to be the focus of attention all year round. This is the focal point for Bella Center’s new initiative – BC Design Center. An entirely new design scene in Scandinavia with showrooms, knowledge centre, seminars and much more – in brief: a professional playground.
Good design deserves more than a few days’ close attention. Bella Center is therefore killing many birds with one stone and presenting a completely new and permanent display window for everyone in the furniture and interiors business. The new design scene is being presented under the name BC DESIGN CENTER, and is a brand new initiative in Scandinavia. The new design scene consists of showrooms (where Natuzzi, among oth-ers, is represented), a materials library, knowledge centre, seminars, work-shops, creative lounge, contemporary exhibitions and design fair, etc. In other words: a playground for design professionals. “BC Design Center is a relevant exhibition platform for the entire design industry. We want to be Scandinavia’s preferred exhibition stage with pulsating design experiences and events that create added value for visitors, customers and collaboration partners,” says Exhibition Manager Lone Ann Disch. The idea is that all the experiences the BC Design Center has to offer should be available all year round. For example, every other month there will be special events and exciting activities with different experts and personalities from the design and architecture business, seminars and workshops centred on design, innovation and based on the needs and demands of the sector. All the events will focus on design, knowledge-sharing and networking. “The new concept around BC Design Center is a fresh and positive initiative on the part of Bella Center, and we expect even more good things in the future,” explains Managing Director, Søren Bering Thygesen from Botium, who has had a permanent showroom in Bella Center since the beginning of the 1980s. Scandinavia’s biggest materials library One of the new initiatives which BC Design Center is counting on is Scandi-navia’s biggest materials library, which can be used by design companies, architects, designers and buyers. The library will become a knowledge centre and window of inspiration within innovation and the development of new materials and their application within architecture and design. At the same time, there will be access to a massive database containing documentation and information about all materials. The hundreds of materials which the library will come to house will be regularly changed. The opportunity for inspiration is particularly targeted towards businesses, architects, designers, buyers etc. BC Design Center will have its première at the same time as the Nordic de-sign fair – CODE10 (Copenhagen Design) in August. CODE was launched in 2009 and people from 35 different countries interested in design visited the fair. Read more at www.code10.dk. Read more about BC Design Center at www.bcdesigncenter.dk
