Skill Shift Initiative, Lidingö municipality and SJ launch a collaborative effort to provide staff support to preschools.

Skill Shift Initiative’s previous fast tracks have mobilized temporarily available human resources to support healthcare, elderly care and forest management. Preschools are also in urgent need of support maintaining staffing levels as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

SJ has a number of employees who are temporarily without work because of the prevailing circumstances. Now, after introductory training, some of SJ’s employees will be able to step in and help Lidingö municipality preschools through a period where staff needs support.

– This spring the situation at preschools has been quite tough. At the moment the situation is more stable, but with extra staff from Skill Shift Initiative we can be more flexible and create greater continuity for our staff and the children attending preschool, says Ingela Landén, Chief Operations Officer for the municipal preschool in Lidingö.

– For SJ this was an easy decision because we want to contribute to things that strengthen society as a whole and Skill Shift Initiative provides an opportunity for our employees whom we currently cannot provide with work, says SJ’s HR Manager, Mats Pettersson

– The preschool staff has done an outstanding job this spring and have been able to maintain operations for our students as usual. By strengthening our staff through Skill Shift Initiative, we will be prepared for a potential second wave of coronavirus this fall, says Amelie Tarschys Ingre (L), Chairman of the Education Committee, Lidingö Municipality

The 3-day intensive will include digital theoretical studies and end with two days of practical internship.
