Following an international recruitment process for the newly created position as Chorus master, the job has been offered to Marc Korovitch from France. The Swedish Radio Choir has a long history and is an important part of what is known as “the Swedish Choral Miracle”. Under their Chief Conductor, Eric Ericson, the choir rapidly grew over a 30-year period into a seminal institution in international choral music. The choir is still sought after by a large number of conductors and concert halls.

Marc Korovitch
is the Chief Conductor of Le Jeune Chœur de Paris, and regularly works with ensembles such as Le Chœur de Radio France and the prominent French choir, Accentus. He has also conducted the SWR Vokalensemble, NDR Chor, WDR Rundfunkchor and the Croatian Radiotelevision Choir. He has worked with conductors such as Simon Rattle, Daniel Harding and Gustavo Dudamel. Marc Korovitch has been engaged as choirmaster for festivals around the world, including the Mozartwoche in Salzburg, the Festival de Radio-France in Montpellier, the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York and Recontres Musicales in Évian in France. He is a passionate educator and teaches choral conducting at the Conservatoire Regionale de Paris.

As Chorus master for the Swedish Radio Choir, Marc Korovitch will be responsible for the choir’s musical development. He will be rehearsing with the choir before both a cappella and orchestral performances, as well as working individually with each singer.

-          In order to match the international renown and quality of the Swedish Radio Choir, it was important to look for the best candidate, even beyond our national borders. The recruitment process has been transparent and extensive. In Marc Korovitch we have an enormously skilled choral professional with the drive and passion for music, says Helena Wessman, General Manager at Berwaldhallen.

-          I have followed the Radio Choir since I was 15, I love their recordings and to me, this is something of a dream come true. The Swedish Radio Choir has meant so much for the development of choral music internationally and I consider it an amazing opportunity to nurture and develop all that make this choir unique, says Marc Korovitch.

-      I’m absolutely thrilled that Marc Korovitch is joining the Swedish Radio Choir at Berwaldhallen. Working with him has been a tremendous experience. His musicianship, relentless dedication, enthusiasm and skill make him the perfect person for the job and an enormous asset for all of us here, says Daniel Harding, Artistic Director of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
