The 20th Baltic Sea Festival Focuses on Music and Education

The Baltic Sea Festival is more relevant than ever as it celebrates its 20th anniversary. The many sustainability challenges that are facing the nations bordering the Baltic Sea will be communicated through music and exceptional concert events featuring international stars who will perform new and familiar works. The audience will also be invited to participate in existential discussions. New classics and magnificent symphonies – many highlights at the 13:th Baltic Sea Festival in Stockholm

STOCKHOLM (18 August 2015) – Magnificent, symphonic music – but also new classics – are set to dominate the thirteenth Baltic Sea Festival. The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra with Kent Nagano recognises the 150:th anniversary of Nielsen and Sibelius. Magnificent symphonies side by side with new classics at the annual Baltic Sea Festival

STOCKHOLM (26 March 2015) - Magnificent, symphonic music is set to dominate the thirteenth Baltic Sea Festival. Tjajkovskij, whose anniversary is one of the many celebrated this year, is honoured with an orchestral version of the Nutcracker performed by the Mariinskij Theatre Orchestra with conductor Valery Gergiev. The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra with Kent Nagano recognises the 150thanniversary of Nielsen and Sibelius, but newer music also features with the Swedish premiere of Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Karawane. The festival this year also recognises the 80th anniversary of composer Arvo Pärt.

Youthful Baltic Sea Festival 2014

Stockholm/Sweden (April 10, 2014) — The twelfth Baltic Sea Festival offers a varied programme with a prominent youth-oriented profile. The Swedish National Youth Orchestra is back and children from El Sistema will play alongside the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
