Bestoutcome announces Version 8.2 to flagship solution, PM3
Introduces new Programme and Project Gateways functionality in v8.2 making it even easier for users to track and realign activity to achieve desired business outcomes
London, UK 8th July 2013 – Bestoutcome, the leading consultancy specialising in outcome-driven project management, has today announced a series of significant enhancements to the functionality of its software solution, PM3.
The introduction of Programme and Project Gateways in PM3 v8.2 represents major new functionality. It provides key control points in the lifecycle of a programme or project, allowing users to critically assess its ongoing viability. At each Gateway (e.g. Initiation Approval Gateway, Launch Approval Gateway) the Project Manager defines the Project’s RAG (red, amber, green) level of compliance with checklist questions specific to that Gateway (e.g. ‘The business case is commercially compelling‘), attaching relevant evidence, and submits the results for governance review. As a result of the review it may be decided that it is actually in the organization's best commercial interests to rescope, reshape, rebaseline or even terminate the project.
As part of the update, Bestoutcome is also making its Outcome-Driven Project Management Framework accessible from within PM3. The framework provides a project management Process Map with Document Templates and Gateway Templates to assist organisations in managing and governing their projects through their entire life-cycle.
“We recognise the importance of listening to our customer and more importantly, acting on their ideas and requirements,” said Iain Aitken, Systems Architect, Bestoutcome. “This latest iteration of PM3 makes subtle changes to the appearance and core functionality of the software but adds a whole new dimension to the solution in the form of Programme and Project Gateways. One of our goals as a company is to help our customers maintain focus on delivering desired business outcomes when initiating and then delivering a project or programme, and with this update we are making it even easier for PM3 users to track and realign activity to achieve those desired aims.”
For those interested in the Project Gateways governance process but unsure of where to start, Bestoutcome has also developed a Project Gateways Assessor app, which is available from the iTunes app store.
