BIBBY DISTRIBUTION SHORTLISTED FOR MOTOR TRANSPORT AWARDS
8 May 2015
Bibby Distribution has been shortlisted for its second award of the year, in the Motor Transport Awards, the Oscars for the road transport and logistics sector.
The 3PL’s milk collection fleet is now in the running for the Technical Excellence Award, for its work in developing a new generation of farm collection vehicle that provides greater efficiency in getting milk from farms to dairies.
Terence Tory, Director, Bibby Distribution, says: “Our engineering team has spent months developing the true milk collection vehicle of the future, which offers greater convenience for drivers, lower costs for our customers, and greater environmental benefits for Bibby Distribution. We’re delighted the team’s hard work has been recognised by industry peers and hope that we will soon have an award to add to the outstanding carbon savings and roadworthiness scores that the new fleet has already delivered.”
The New Generation Milk Collection vehicle makes use of a fuel efficient Euro VI engine and incorporates a variety of customisations designed to make milk collection quicker and more efficient, while retaining a lower cost of ownership. The fleet collects 2.5m litres of milk every day from farms in Scotland, Cumbria and Wales and the new vehicles are estimated to take around 1,800 tonnes of carbon out of the supply chain over the next five years.
This is the second year running Bibby Distribution has been recognised by the Motor Transport Awards judges, with its collaboration with Morrisons shortlisted for the Partnership Award in 2014. This comes on the back of Bibby Distribution also making the shortlist for Logistics Supplier of the Year for the yet-to-be-awarded Grocer Gold Awards.
The Motor Transport Awards will be held in London on 1 July.
