BIBBY DISTRIBUTION THE PERFECT FIT FOR HAVELOCK
Corporate and retail interior fit-out supplier Havelock has extended its contract with Bibby Distribution for an additional year.
For the past decade, Bibby Distribution has transported interiors materials from Havelock’s distribution centre in Dysart, Fife, to stores, schools and financial offices across the country, and has had its contract extended thanks to its proven track record of meeting challenging delivery windows.
Bibby also provides shunting from Havelock’s factory in Kirkcaldy to the distribution centre.
Because of the nature of commercial space fit-out, on-time delivery is essential. Refits often need to take place in the space of a single night because the store or bank branch will need to be open the next day, so the construction contractors involved need to be certain that Havelock’s products arrive exactly when needed. Bibby Distribution has an on-time delivery success rate of greater than 99 per cent.
Paul Doleman, Operations Director, Havelock, says: “We are a challenging customer as the nature of our business is ‘just-in-time’, and our volumes fluctuate dramatically. That means we need a very flexible delivery partner. Bibby Distribution delivers on its promises, which means we can keep ours.”
Bibby Distribution operates a mixed fleet of standard and urban articulated trucks, allowing it to deliver fit-out goods to even the busiest city centres. Because the goods transported are often low-weight, Bibby Distribution has invested in double-decker trailers allowing more goods to be loaded per truck, cutting the cost of delivery for Havelock.
Drivers also play a crucial role in assisting with loading and unloading, and enforcing health and safety. Because the goods transported are ‘ugly freight’ – the industry term for a load consisting of mixed pallet sizes – drivers provide manual handling assistance to help get goods on and off the truck.
Havelock supplies interiors via Bibby Distribution to a range of customers, including Lloyds TSB, Primark and Marks & Spencer. Bibby Distribution provides distribution across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
