TT ELECTRONICS PLC WINS NEW DEFENCE CONTRACTS WORTH £32 MILLION TT electronics plc is pleased to announce three new contract wins worth a combined value of approximately £32 million. All three are for the manufacture of new sub assemblies and systems for the defence sector. · AB Electronic Assemblies Ltd. has been awarded a contract by Harris Systems Limited UK to manufacture sub-assemblies for use in high frequency radio systems for the UK Ministry of Defence Bowman Programme. AB Electronic Assemblies will produce printed circuit board assemblies, incorporating surface mount and radio frequency technology. The value of the contract is expected to be approximately £20million over the next four years. · Houchin Aerospace Ltd. has secured a contract with the Ministry of Defence Aircraft Support Integrated Project Team to provide 38 trailer mounted Air Start Units. Work will commence in the second half of the year with the first deliveries expected by the end of 2002 and the rest of the units following over a three year period. The value of the contract is expected to be £4.3 million. · AB Connectors has won contracts for the supply of output panels, fuse boxes and harnesses to be fitted to a new range of highly mobile, small diesel powered generators for the MOD. The prime manufacturing contractor is Vickers Specialist Engines, a subsidiary of Rolls Royce plc. The generators to be supplied under the Field Electrical Power Supplies contract have been designed to operate in a wide range of hostile environments utilising 'stealth' type technology including acoustic, thermal and radar signature reduction features. The generators are designed for many specialist and civil applications and will be compatible with other NATO and US Army equipment. The Ministry of Defence contracts are worth a total of £7.7 million. Commenting on the announcement, John Newman, chairman of TT electronics plc said: "As part of our strategy, we have been actively pursuing defence orientated work to complement our existing position in other marketplaces and to further broaden our customer base. I am therefore particularly pleased to announce these contract wins as they confirm the success we are having. These orders represent a significant development for the group and establish the Ministry of Defence as a major new end user of our products and technology.
