Industrial food-tech company Big Akwa has successfully raised funds to support the company's growth.
Big Akwa AB has successfully raised 4.75 MSEK through a combination of equity sales and loans. The findings will be used to proceed with environmental permitting works for 6000 tons of sustainable rainbow trout farm. These land-based RAS facilities are planned to be located in the middle of Sweden, at Alby industrial park designed for industrial symbiosis.

The equity sales of 1.75 MSEK was made to the already existing investors Sparbanksstiftelsen Norrlands Riskkapitalstiftelse and Almi Invest Mitt, which are also a part of the company's second investment round. The new loans of SEK 3 million were secured through Almi Företagspartner and Norrlandsfonden.

Big Akwa's ambition is to, together with other actors, develop and implement new innovative solutions for food production through industrial symbiosis. Building the facility in Alby industrial park is the first step in that work.
The upcoming land-based fish farm is to be operated in industrial symbiosis with British Renewable Energy Systems, RES, and Big Akwa also wants to establish an innovative processing of the residual products.
