The company announced that they have received  SEK 2,660,000  from Almi Invest, Sparbanksstiftelsen Norrlands Riskkapitalstiftelse and 2 private investors.

Big Akwa is a food-tech company developing  sustainable protein production by using industrial waste. It plans to build a land-based fish farm with an annual capacity of 3000 tons in industrial symbioses with the other enterprises in Västernorrland.

-          It’s a great honor to partner  with such established and professional investors such as Almi Invest and Sparbanksstiftelsen. Collaboration contributes to Big Akwa's strategy to create resource-efficient industrial clusters and accelerate transition towards a more sustainable society, says Hugo Wikström, one of the company's founders.

-          Sustainable food production is a key issue in creating robust and sustainable societies. Traditional food production systems have a huge negative impact on at least three of the nine planetary boundaries, namely biodiversity, climate change and nitrogen and phosphorus leakage. Big Akwa’s approach is to produce sustainable food without compromising them, says Maria Hedblom, CEO of Sparbankstiftelsen Norrlands Riskkapitalstiftelse.

-          Big Akwa's plans are fully in line with the ongoing transformation to a sustainable society. That is why it is interesting to invest in the company, says Mats Håkansson at Almi Invest.
