Reading-based creative design studio, Big Bark Creative, was awarded the contract to redesign and modernise the website for progressive local estate agency Farmer & Dyer. The agency had a number of key online objectives for the new site, which now sits at the centre of the organisation’s business.

An effective web presence is critical form most businesses in today’s digital economy, but arguably none more so than in the property market. By offering the ability to browse comprehensive details of properties for sale and rent from the comfort of your armchair, web statistics and behavioural studies clearly show that estate agents’ websites are the first port of call for house buyers and sellers.

That’s why the new website is at the centre of the Caversham-based agency’s business and features several useful additional resources, including details of free property valuations, advice on selling and letting homes, surveys and mortgages, as well as calendars of event and information on the local area.

“For us at Big Bark, Farmer & Dyer’s project was refreshing as they had clear objectives and great ideas right from the outset,” says Studio Head Nicky Jackson. “It’s fair to say that not all estate agents enjoy a good reputation but it was obvious that the team at Farmer & Dyer is different. To design and built a truly effective website, it’s important that we have close relationships with client’s staff at all levels. In dealing with the team at Farmer & Dyer we observed good honest employees managing clients’ expectations, working hard and genuinely loving their jobs,” she adds.

Nicky Jackson also praises the client’s thinking and planning: “They knew exactly what resources they wanted to provide through the new website, like local weather forecasts (vital if you’re booking to view a property), and created fresh and relevant content, for example detailed guides to What’s On in the local area, along with reviews of schools. For these reasons and more, it was an absolute pleasure when Big Bark Creative was appointed to redesign and build the new Farmer & Dyer website,” she concludes.

Besides useful initial content, Farmer & Dyer invested in advanced Aspascia software, an innovative real-time Internet database system that allows the website to be constantly updated with new pages for the latest homes coming to market, complete with in-depth property details.

The build of the website ran smoothly. As a result, the relationship between Big Bark Creative and Farmer & Dyer has gone from strength to strength. Big Bark now delivers other creative marketing solutions including the design of flyers, posters and advertising concepts.
