 Club fundraiser benefits charities

To mark the end of an eventful season and raise money for local charities, Bigbury's Captain John Elliott held a charity auction with many desirable lots up for the taking.

Donations from vintage wines and spirits to golfing days out were on display, with the arguable highlight being a round for two and star treatment at Celtic Manor - the venue of the 2010 Ryder Cup.

After much generous bidding John raised over £2,400, with half going to the golf club's development fund, which will go towards rennovating the clubhouse, and the other half being split between two local charities - the church of St Lawrence in Bigbury and Jamie Procter's Foundation which give disadvantaged children week-long activity breaks. John said, 'I'm delighted with the amount that's been raised, and it really highlights the kindness of the people here at Bigbury. Thanks must go to everyone, members and staff alike, for making it such a successful event.'
