On Tuesday 18 June, a jury will elect the French or German winners of PIDA France, the prestigious design competition PIDA – Packaging Impact Design Award. The challenge is to design a sustainable packaging concept for 2030. PIDA is a BillerudKorsnäs initiative for driving development in packaging design, showcasing the work of young talent, and creating a meeting place for the packaging community – an arena for ideas and inspiration.

Media are warmly invited to attend the event where French and German design students will compete for the PIDA Gold award.

Time: Tuesday 18 June, at 14.00.

Place: Best Western Premier Hôtel de la Paix, Reims.

RSVP latest June 14 to sophie.lindhe@billerudkorsnas.com.

For the 15th consecutive year, BillerudKorsnäs arranges and hosts the international competition PIDA in co-operation with leading universities and colleges in France, Germany, Sweden, and the UK. More than 200 design students participate every year. The French contestants are students from IUT Reims, ESEPAC, and ESI Reims, and the contesting German students come from Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart and University of Media Stuttgart.

This year’s theme is Bring the Future, a challenge with a sustainability focus.
“More and more consumers wish to get involved and contribute to a sustainable future and that increases a demand for climate-smart packaging. A growing trend is to replace plastic with renewable materials and that will make its mark on PIDA this year, making the competition all the more relevant, says Sophie Lindhe, Brand Project Coordinator at BillerudKorsnäs”.

BillerudKorsnäs is a leading supplier of fibre-based material and sustainable packaging solutions. The PIDA initiative aims to drive knowledge development and provide an arena for ideas and inspiration, where established industry professionals meet the packaging designers of the future. The PIDA event also includes an interesting seminar. Keynotes at this occasion include Fabrice Peltier, designer and eco-design consultant, and Osvaldo Valente Pires, Sales Director Luxury Division Duran Dogan. The highlight of the event is the award ceremony, which commences at 17.45. The media is welcome to participate in all or part of the event. There will also be opportunities for individual interviews.
