Barco releases award-winning Corporate AV projectors as BIM objects
Easy access to complete and detailed product information is a must for every consultant, architect and engineer. Therefore, Barco has invested in making its newly launched range of Corporate AV projectors available as BIM objects for Revit.
Barco, a global technology company, designs and develops visualization products for a variety of selected professional markets. Barco is active in more than 90 countries with 4,000 employees worldwide. Barco posted sales of 1.158 billion euro in 2013.The Barco Present projectors for Corporate AV won the 2014 InAVation Award for 'Most InAVative Projector' and were lauded for combining unrivaled ease of use with increased productivity and business efficiency. The extensive range of Corporate AV projectors comprises single-chip and three-chip DLP® business projectors with brightness levels from 5,000 up to 10,000 lumens, and a wide choice in resolutions from XGA to WQXGA.
"Making our new range of Corporate AV projectors available as BIM objects was the next logical step for us in the Corporate AV industry," says Bram Dieryckx, Director Product Management Projection for Barco. "Simplicity is key for our Corporate AV projectors and by making them available as BIM objects we want to simplify our customers' planning processes in the design and specification phase."
The face-based BIM objects include features such as exchangeable lenses, AV-planning, MEP connections, throw ranges and no-go zones. The BIM objects contain such a high level of detail, enabling consultants, architects and engineers to get a complete bill of materials directly from their BIM software. With the above features available it gives planners and engineers great flexibility in choosing the right projector for the right environment. Planners have the ability to interactively change lenses giving them instant throw range feedback and the no-go zone ensures that the planner places the projector with adequate space around it. With the MEP connections, electrical engineers can produce complete electrical circuiting routing plans.
"We have managed to visually re-create the elegant design of Barco's projectors, however - the complete package is what's important. Engineers and planners will have great use of the highly detailed BIM objects", says Ben O'Donnell, CTO at BIMobject AB.
