Bio-Works signs distribution agreement with Gene Co. in China including Hong Kong S.A.R. and Macau S.A.R.
Bio-Works Technologies (Nasdaq First North) has signed a distribution agreement with the Hong Kong headquartered Gene Company Ltd to import, store, distribute, market, promote and sell all of its products in China including Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions.
Bio-Works is continuing the strategy to expand its presence in the Asian region addressing the development of biosimilars and biopharmaceuticals in the Asian countries. China has rapidly progressed from just producing generics and developing biosimilar drugs to R&D focused development of innovative biologics including manufacturing of advanced biopharmaceuticals, with several domestic CDMOs from SMEs to among the world largest including international players, active locally. This agreement will enable Bio-Works to expand its reach on the Chinese market, tapping into Gene Company’s vast coverage of China.
Bio-Works’ third generation proprietary agarose resins, WorkBeads™, with a wide variety of functionalities, WorkBeads affimAb for protein A based affinity, WorkBeads 40Q, 40S and 40 TREN for ion-exchange, size exclusion and WorkBeads 40 IDA and 40 NTA for immobilised metal ion affinity chromatography, are specifically developed with commercial scale manufacturing in mind. WorkBeads generally offers faster mass transport, higher yields and purity than competitors with its stronger and more rigid agarose beads with optimal porosity for antibody based therapies, as well as for peptide and oligo-nucleotide based therapies, and recombinant proteins.
