"We are moving from Sweden and Norway as domestic market to northern Europe"

Scandinavian Biogas strengthens the organization to meet the rapidly increasing demand for liquefied biogas (Bio-LNG). The Bio-LNG and its ability to be transported for long distances significantly more cost-effectively has fundamentally changed the market. At the same time, the search for alternative fuels for heavier transports has made biogas appear as an attractive alternative. With small modifications it can used on the existing vehicles, mainly trucks and buses. The advantage of making the gas liquid is that it then only uses one sixth as much tank volume compared to compressed gas and in this way the logistics become significantly more cost-effective. During the past year, the authorities at both national and EU level have clearly provided improved and long-term conditions for expanding the production and distribution of Bio-LNG.

The company's new organization, which applies from the first of February, means that the current country manager for Sweden, Michael Wallis Olausson, will be Growth Opportunities Executive. The head of the Norwegian operations, Håvard Wollan, will have increased responsibilities such as Group Sales, Sourcing and Sustainability Executive with overall responsibility for sales, purchasing and sustainability. A new director for the Swedish operations is being recruited, meanwhile Fredrik Henckel will be interim head of the Swedish operations. Jörgen Ejlertsson continues as responsible for process, research & development as well as Anna Budzynski as CFO and responsible for finance and administration.

“The energy market is changing at a rapid pace. The possibilities of biogas and Bio-LNG makes it environmentally and economically interesting and fits well into the Taxonomy. As a company, we are facing new market opportunities and must adapt production to the ever-increasing demand both in Scandinavia and abroad. With Bio-LNG deliveries we move from having Sweden and Norway as domestic markets northern Europe. We strengthen the organization to ensure growth and to meet the opportunities ahead”, says CEO Matti Vikkula at Scandinavian Biogas.
