Long covid – next global public health crisis?

Almost three years into the Covid-19 pandemic, the immediate threat of death from the disease has dropped significantly. Now, healthcare faces another problem: long covid. The condition is estimated to affect 10–30 per cent of those infected by Covid-19, and the symptoms are numerous and complex. Additionally, existing gaps in knowledge make both diagnosis and treatment difficult. BioStock reviews the current knowledge regarding symptoms and underlying causes of long covid.
