The CAR T revolution in the fight against cancer

CAR T-cell therapies have shown transformational potential for the treatment of cancer, generating excitement among researchers and oncologist. Six CAR T drugs have been approved by the FDA since 2017, and several others are in clinical evaluation. In the Nordics, Skåne University Hospital in Sweden was the first to infuse patients with CAR T therapies in 2020. Since then, just over 20 patients have undergone treatment, giving them a much improved survival outlook.
