Birdstep launches EasyConnect 2.9

(Oslo, February 16, 2010) Birdstep Technology launches EasyConnect 2.9, an intuitive mobile broadband service end-point management solution with support for network offloading and pre-paid handling.

Birdstep Technology, a leading provider of wireless connectivity software, today launches EasyConnect 2.9 to the market. EasyConnect is an advanced service management and connectivity software solution for mobile operators. With EasyConnect 2.9 operators can efficiently include the growing market of pre-paid subscribers and manage the need to offload the mobile network to other technologies. Building on the advanced features of Birdsteps leading mobile broadband solution, EasyConnect 2.9 offers improved handover between the mobile network (HSPA+/3G/2G), LAN and WiFi networks; this will help reduce the load on the cellular network, with an improved user experience. The network offloading is done automatically according to the priority of the network. The release also includes support for pre-paid subscribers with real-time account status and possibility for the subscriber to easily top-up their pre-paid subscriptions. “Mobile network operators are experiencing an increase of data traffic in their networks and are looking for solutions to offload traffic to other technologies. With EasyConnect 2.9 operators can efficiently offload the mobile network and subscribers will benefit from always being best connected, regardless of technology, says Torbjörn Sandberg, CEO and President of Birdstep Technology. This infrastructure can be re-used for their mobile broadband customers through EasyConnect 2.9.” EasyConnect 2.9 also features a non-intrusive marketing slide-out window with support for rich messaging presentation, including Flash, HTML, and video. Customer service and support is also improved through the clearly visible support window, the possibility of pre-loading video for reduced cost of customer support, real time account status and self diagnostics. EasyConnect provides connection management capabilities, device independence, access to mobile services, and help for the subscriber while providing a channel for operators to deliver messaging, support updates, and a fully managed customer lifecycle.
