Birka Energi and Katrineholm to sell Katrineholm Energi AB Birka Energi has agreed to sell its 49 percent shareholding in Katrineholms Energi AB as well as its fully owned company, Katrineholms Energiförsäljning AB, to Tekniska Verken i Linköping AB. Katrineholm local authority will simultaneously sell its 51 percent holding in Katrineholms Energi AB to the same buyer. "We are selling our holdings in Katrineholm to release funds for the further consolidation of our connected electricity and district heating networks," says Tomas Bruce, Birka Energi's CEO. The purchase sums involved are SEK 500 million for Katrineholms Energi AB and SEK 31 million for the energy sales company. Birka Energi's share of the total purchase sum is SEK 276 million. Katrineholms Energi AB primarily covers district heating and electricity distribution and has, in common with the energy sales company, around 15,000 customers. The sales are subject to approval by the relevant local authority.
