Birka Energi sells electricity supply network in Sigtuna Birka Energi AB has reached agreement for the sale of its electricity supply network operation in Sigtuna to Vattenfall. The deal will involve the transfer of all the shares in a real network company for approx. SEK 270 million. Birka Energi acquired Sigtuna Energi AB and half of Brista Kraft AB from the Sigtuna municipality in the spring of this year. Birka Energi will retain the district heating production and distribution along with the Brista Kraft's electricity trading operation. However, the electricity supply network operation in Sigtuna will be sold to Vattenfall. The 23 employees who are affected will move to Vattenfall. "Vattenfall owns neighbouring electricity supply networks, and we felt that they have better prospects for running an efficient and rational network operation in the Sigtuna area," says Bo Englund, Business Development Director of Birka Energi's network operation. "It is also natural for us to participate in the structural changes that are taking place in the electricity supply network market."
