Trondheim Local Authority Changes Conditions for Cooperation with Birka Energi The owners of Trondheim Energiverk AS, Trondheim local authority, have decided to put up to 49% of the company on the market. This decision alters the conditions for cooperation with Birka Energi AB as agreed in June and based on a 50/50 jointly owned company covering electricity sales and relevant energy services in Norway. The agreement was subject to approval by Trondheim local authority, but since Trondheim local authority have now changed the conditions a new light has been thrown over the whole question of cooperation. - Our cooperation with Trondheim has been long and productive and the business basis for further cooperation remains sound, says Tomas Bruce, president and CEO of Birka Energi. We must now wait and see what the local authority's decision to sell involves before deciding if and how our cooperation can be further developed. Birka Energi was created in 1998 by a merger of Gullspång Kraft and Stockholm Energi. Based on customer numbers, Birka Energi is Sweden's largest energy company. The company is owned in equal shares by the City of Stockholm and the listed Finnish energy company Fortum abp.
