Bittium FUSOR™ Software Router Enables Flexible and Cost-Efficient Expansion of Defense Networks
Bittium Corporation press release on March 25, 2026 at 3:05 pm (CET+1)
Bittium has today announced the launch of its next‑generation software router. Bittium FUSOR™ (Flexible Unifying Software Router) strengthens communications for the defense forces of different countries by enabling seamless, flexible, and cost-efficient expansion of Bittium networks. The software router supports the formation of hybrid networks by connecting tactical networks with, for example, fixed networks and 5G, as well as expanding tactical networks into larger network entities. A wide, multi-technology network allows effective operational activities across services and military branches.
The software router is part of Bittium’s proven portfolio of routing products, including the Bittium TAC WIN Tactical Router™, Bittium Tough SDR™ radios, and the Bittium Tough Comnode™ communication device. FUSOR introduces an alternative way for deploying routing capability on virtual platforms. It is a flexible solution that is easy to deploy and replicate within existing network infrastructure.
FUSOR utilizes the same advanced routing protocol as Bittium’s routing devices, enabling the formation of a seamless Mobile Ad‑hoc Network (MANET) that dynamically selects the optimal path for communications at all times. This adaptive routing capability allows network nodes to move freely without the need for manual reconfiguration when network topology or connection quality changes. The network is easy to deploy, resilient, and ensures continuous communications even in highly dynamic and contested operational environments.
“Effective command and control of forces and operational performance rely on seamless communications between all forces. Bittium’s network solutions enable interoperable, secure and future-ready communications that operate across different defense environments. Our new FUSOR software router provides our customers with greater agility and more options for building and expanding their networks. Thanks to the software‑based approach, all our capabilities are adaptable to future performance requirements,” said Tommi Kangas, Senior Vice President of Bittium’s Defense & Security business segment.
Bittium FUSOR is available for customer evaluation and pilot deployments.
