George Murrells confirmed as one of Optimum’s GT3 drivers for 2012 British GT Championship

Optimum Motorsport has confirmed George Murrells as one of their drivers to race in this year’s British GT Championship in their new Ginetta G55 GT3.

George joined Optimum in 2010 to race in the Ginetta Challenge which he went on to win taking six race victories across the season and earned himself a place in Autosport’s Top 10 National Drivers at the same time.

In 2011, George stepped up to race in the Ginetta GTSupercup championship, taking a win at the Rockingham round, and most recently was in Optimums victorious Dubai 24 Hours driver squad

‘The British GT Championship is the logical next step for me’ said Murrells ‘and I am thrilled to be teaming up again with Optimum in their GT3 car.’

Shaun Goff, Team Principal at Optimum Motorsport is delighted to welcome George back to the team for the 2012 season. “George is an extremely talented driver whose style should suit the GT3 car. We are talking to three other drivers to partner George this year and are confident that we will have a very quick pairing this year. Our expectations are high and we very much look forward to the season now getting underway” 

Round 1 of the British GT Championship takes place on 7-9th April 2012 at Oulton Park.
