Availability of Blue Sky Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) to Meet Growing Demand Resulting from EPA Clean Air Requirements

CARTERET, N.J. (April 17, 2012) — Prime Lube Inc., the parent company of Blue Sky East LLC, announced that Premier Energy of Columbus, Ind., has become a distributor of Blue Sky Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) through Blue Sky Heartlands. Premier Energy will offer the EPA-mandated diesel-fuel supplement to customers in southeast Indiana and parts of Ohio. Distribution of Blue Sky DEF will meet growing demand for its use in diesel-powered engines, including tractor trailers, pickup trucks, passenger cars, agricultural and construction equipment, marine vessels and trains.

“The addition of Premier Energy to our growing family of distributorships is significant for our growth,” said Robert Arbasetti, COO of Prime Lube. “We are excited about our association with Premier Energy, a leading supplier of petroleum products and services, and the expansion of Blue Sky DEF in southeast Indiana and southwest Ohio. The availability of Blue Sky DEF to diesel-fuel customers allows them to stay compliant with EPA-required emissions levels, while benefitting from a high-quality, low-cost, easy-to-use solution to keep engines running efficiently.”

Columbus-based Premier Energy, a division of Premier Companies, specializes in providing the highest-quality petroleum, propane and lubricant products to customers in the consumer, commercial and agricultural sectors. Premier Energy is a supplier of CountryMark-brand diesel fuels, refined from 100 percent American crude oil and engineered for maximum power and efficiency.

“Premier Energy is the best source for customers who want more than just a fuel station to supply their energy needs. We were the first to offer ethanol blends and biodiesels, and are continuously working hard to provide customers with a variety of high-quality fuels,” said Ben Hoene, energy commercial sales specialist at Premier Energy. “The addition of Blue Sky DEF to our product line allows us to make a positive impact in southeast Indiana and southwest Ohio by offering customers the environmental and performance benefits of this diesel exhaust fluid.”

Premier Energy will distribute Blue Sky DEF from its locations in Columbus, Ind., and Harrison, Ohio. Its full-service distribution and handling capacity of Blue Sky DEF will include its own fleet of trucks for delivery, as well as the capability to provide customers with dispensing equipment, storage tanks and other handling equipment required for DEF. Through this strategic distribution partnership, Blue Sky East LLC will offer a more affordable supply of DEF to customers in southeast Indiana and southwest Ohio. Lower transportation costs will also result in a significant price advantage for retail fuel stations and their customers.

Regarding EPA compliance, all diesel-powered passenger and commercial vehicles produced after January 1, 2010, are required to meet new, lower nitrous oxide emission standards. DEF, in conjunction with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology, is the most effective and safest means that commercial and private owner / operators can meet the required U.S. EPA mandate. DEF is also mandated in Canada.

Blue Sky DEF is ISO and API approved to help neutralize the nitrous oxide emissions generated through diesel exhaust. In its most basic form, DEF is a blend of urea (derived from natural gas) and deionized water that combine to form ammonia, which turns nitrous oxide emissions into harmless water vapor and elemental nitrogen. It can also improve fuel economy up to eight percent. A gallon of DEF costs about the same as a gallon of diesel fuel and generally lasts about 300 to 500 miles.
