    Updated Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves for Kevitsa as well as grade guidance for 2025

    Boliden has updated the estimations for Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves at Kevitsa, as a result of more detailed studies of the mineralization. The updated estimates show an increase in tonnage in both Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves compared to the previous year. The average grade for the Mineral Reserve is estimated to increase to 0.22 percent for nickel (NiS*) and remains as previously 0.31 percent for copper.     Boliden and Komatsu deepen cooperation around fossil-free mining

    For several years, Boliden and Komatsu have collaborated on the electrification and automation of mining trucks in the open pit copper mine Aitik.     Update expansion project Odda and capital expenditure guidance 2025

    Since 2021, Boliden has carried out investments in the Odda zinc smelter with the aim of increasing the annual production volume from 200 to 350 ktonnes.     Confirmation of insurance claim for Rönnskär

    After the fire that destroyed Rönnskär’s tank house in June 2023, Boliden has now received confirmation that the primary insurance company fully assumes its part of the insurance claim. Boliden will therefore report an income of SEK 2.4 billion affecting the result for the second quarter of 2024. Thereafter, the insurance proceeds are expected to be paid out over time.     An agreement has been reached between worker´s unions and local management which enables the process of reopening the mine at Tara on a more financially sustainable basis.     Total impact on Boliden from political strikes in Finland in the first quarter 2024

    A number of trade unions in Finland have carried out political strikes during the quarter, which have affected Boliden’s access to critical infrastructure such as railway and harbors. The strikes do not involve Boliden as a negotiating party, and the impact on production has been limited. If the announced extension of the ongoing strike until March 31 is carried out, the total impact on Boliden’s operating profit in the first quarter 2024 is estimated to approximately SEK 500 million, whereof SEK 200 million is due to reduced production and SEK 300 million to delayed deliveries to customers.

    Boliden's capital market update: Investment in new tank house at Rönnskär

    Boliden has decided to invest in a new tank house at Rönnskär.     A number of trade unions have announced a two-week long political strike in Finland starting March 11, 2024. The strike is politically motivated and does not involve Boliden as a negotiating party. The direct industrial actions at Boliden's operations are limited, however, Boliden is heavily indirectly affected by industrial actions in Finland’s harbors and railroad system. Boliden will try to limit the impact on its customers.
