Bong announces that is has been recertified with the right to carry the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Reduction Label on its mailing and packaging solutions made from DuPont™ Tyvek®.

The products awarded with the Carbon Reduction Label are mailing solutions manufactured from Tyvek® material made by DuPont de Nemours (Luxembourg). They were the first European mailing products to ever achieve Carbon Trust product carbon footprint certification in June 2010, and are marketed throughout Western Europe, Poland, and Russia, exclusively by Bong.

"We are delighted to find that our continued dedication and commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of our products, production, warehousing and distribution process has led to the recertification of the Carbon Reduction Label initially awarded to us in 2010." says Bill Callcut, European Product and Marking Manager, Bong Security Solutions S.A.

"The information on the label continues to provide our customers with reliable and independently verified data which they can use to make decisions about the benefits of choosing Tyvek® mailing solutions. The label has also proven to be an effective and valuable incentive for us to further reduce the carbon footprint of our warehousing and distribution process. We want mailing solutions made of Tyvek® to be the first-choice material for European businesses that want a robust mailing product with strong green credentials."

The Carbon Reduction Label applies to all Tyvek® mailing and packaging products produced by Bong Security Solutions S.A in Luxembourg, a subsidiary of Bong AB.

In order for a product to achieve certification and be awarded the right to use the Carbon Reduction Label, the Carbon Trust independently and rigorously assesses that product’s carbon footprint to ensure that it shows a real reduction. Manufacturers must also make a commitment to actively reduce the carbon footprint of the labelled products over time.

According to research undertaken by the Carbon Trust, almost nine out of ten consumers want their favourite brands to help combat the threat of climate change by reducing their carbon footprints.[1]

Darran Messem, Managing Director of Certification, the Carbon Trust, said: “We congratulate Bong AB on a continued commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its Tyvek® products. Successfully achieving recertification proves that by working in partnership with the supply chain, it is possible to measure and reduce entire product lifecycles, from the development of raw materials, right up to the finished products that are sold and disposed of by consumers.”
