Monilaite-Thomeko investing in Russia and Belarus
In August, Monilaite-Thomeko Oy acquired 50% of Sollex Ltd in St Petersburg, Russia, and opened a joint venture sales and service office in Minsk, Belarus.
“Joining forces with Sollex will help to improve customer service and widen our product portfolio. This will also mean a stronger position in the Russian market,” says Managing Director Fred Ramberg.
Sollex is specialised in commercial and industrial refrigeration, and over the years has carried out projects for many major Finnish and international companies investing in Russia. Sollex was founded in 1992. As a result of this acquisition, the number of its employees has risen from 35 to 43, and this year the company willl achieve sales of almost €10 million in Russia.
A joint venture together with Belcrystal in Belarus
In June 2012, Monilaite-Thomeko opened a joint venture sales and service office in Minsk, Belarus. “In the past we have served Belarussian customers from our Lithuanian subsidiary. Our main focus is to offer our products and services locally,” says Ramberg.
“The aim is to grow our business in both food retail and fast food chains. Our product portfolio includes commercial refrigeration, system scales, kitchen equipment and materials. Brands that we offer to our customers include JBG, ISA, Scotsman, Bizerba, Eloma, Price Castle, Frymaster, Eurogril and Baseplast,” says Ramberg.
Strong growth in nearby markets
Monilaite-Thomeko Group has successfully been growing in nearby markets and is now active in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and Belarus, employing 160 people. The 2012 sales target is €36 million.
