Two designers choose the iconic sandals as the foundation of their fashion week collections

London, England (September 17, 2012) – Outdoor footwear brand Teva has made its way onto the runway being featured as part of the shows for both the Siki IM and Martina Spetlova Spring 2013 collections. During New York Fashion Week, menswear designer SIKI IM featured bespoke versions of the classic Hurricane footwear with subtly tweaked blazers and maxi wrapped skirts, seeing the juxtaposition of fashion and functionality as a natural extension of his own personal style. Across the pond in London, the up-and-coming Martina Spetlova chose Teva for her Spring 2013 collection. Martina chose to customise the Teva Pretty Rugged sandal with sustainably-sourced fish leather uppers, creating a luxurious pairing with the “textured fabrics, strong block colours and punk-esque detailing” showcased in her new collection. This follows on from the success of last year’s DKNY SS12 menswear which was also showcased with the Hurricane XLT sports sandal.

Off the runway and on the other side of the globe, the brand is enjoying a resurgence of interest in its classic sandal products. Oshman’s, a cutting-edge sporting goods retailer, and fashion brand Uniform Experiment have recently collaborated with Teva in Japan to produce limited edition sandals with whimsical webbing patterns and bright, no-holds-barred sole units. Both collaborations have proved to be hits with the public, selling out quickly and helping to cement Teva as a true crossover brand in the Japanese market.
