Are you brave enough to conquer the UK’s three peaks? Breast Cancer Campaign is calling on all fundraisers with a passion for the great outdoors to put on their hiking boots and set themselves a challenge for 2010 by signing up to its popular Three Peaks Challenge. Running from 2 - 4 July, the Three Peaks is perfect for anyone looking for a new physical challenge as participants attempt to scale the UK’s three highest mountains in just 24 hours to help the charity continue to beat breast cancer. Supporters need to sign up before April to take part and allow enough time to prepare, train and fundraise. It’s a challenge of endurance, adventure and most of all team work, as everyone pulls together to tackle the intense slopes of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon, ascending over 3,000 metres and sometimes even hiking in the dark. Jane Pritchard, Breast Cancer Campaign’s Events Executive, said “The Three Peaks is the perfect challenge to take on with a group of friends or on your own, as well as being a great way to improve your physical fitness. Not only will participants have the experience of a lifetime, they’ll also be helping the charity continue funding vital breast cancer research.” Last year a group of employees from Thames Housing Finance Corporation took part in the Three Peaks Challenge, raising over £15,000 for the charity. Luke Sinclair, Trainee Accountant at THFC said “Taking part in the Three Peaks was a real challenge, but the fact that 46,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year kept us motivated through the toughest bits. We are incredibly proud to have raised so much money to help Breast Cancer Campaign beat breast cancer.” Participants are requested to register by the end of April 2010 by paying a deposit of £160 to British Military Fitness who organise the trek on behalf of Campaign. They will also be required to raise £680 minimum sponsorship in order to take part. AnotherThree Peaks Challenge will also take place on 10 -12 September 2010.
