Breast Cancer Campaign is offering anyone looking to get in shape the perfect way to boost their fitness regime with the chance to explore the magical city of Machu Picchu with its trek to Peru. Whatever motivator you need to kick-start your training programme, this trek has it all; adventure, beautiful scenery and the once in a lifetime opportunity to explore one of the Seven Wonders of the World. But most importantly your support will be helping to make a difference to the 46,000 people that are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK. The trek runs from 22 – 31 October (registration required by end of July) and the charity has teamed up with Health & Fitness magazine to offer all adventurous fundraisers the perfect chance to get fit while exploring this magical city. It’s an intense challenge that combines breathtaking views from one of the world’s most mystifying and picturesque landmarks with physical endurance as you trek between 4 – 8 hours a day. Kelly Walton, Breast Cancer Campaign’s Events Executive said “Our overseas challenge events raised over £180,000 for Breast Cancer Campaign last year, so that’s why we’re really encouraging people to sign up to our trek to Machu Picchu to help raise vital funds for breast cancer research. Not only will you get to explore one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, but you’ll also be helping to the 46,000 people who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK.” For more information about Campaign’s trek to Machu Picchu with Health & Fitness magazine please call 020 7749 3700, email treks@breastcancercampaign.org or visit our website breastcancercampaign.org ENDS Picture caption: Breast Cancer Campaign supporters celebrate the end of their challenge at Machu Picchu, Peru Notes to editors • Breast Cancer Campaign aims to beat breast cancer by funding innovative world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure • Currently it supports 112 research projects, worth almost £17 million, in 40 centres of excellence across the UK and Ireland • Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK and accounts for nearly one in three of all cancers in women • In the UK, nearly 46,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each year - that’s 125 a day • Visit www.breastcancercampaign.org • Read Chief Executive Pamela Goldberg’s blog http://pamelagoldbergblog.blogspot.com/ • To find out more about Health & Fitness magazine please visit www.healthandfitnessonline.co.uk
