Press Release For immediate release: 22 February 2010 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD: 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Join the ultimate Scottish race to beat breast cancer Calling all budding runners across Scotland - Breast Cancer Campaign wants you to lace up your trainers and run for research at this year’s Edinburgh Marathon. On Sunday 23 May thousands of runners across the UK will line up to run 26.2miles and Campaign has places available on its winning team to beat breast cancer. In 2009 31 people wore their pink Campaign Jigsaw Runners vests with pride, while running around Scotland’s capital city, and raised almost £10,000 for the charity. Events Assistant, Kelly Walton said: “Every year over 4,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women in Scotland so it’s vitally important we continue funding research into this disease. We’re thrilled so many runners took part in the Edinburgh Marathon for us last year and we hope the team will grow even bigger in 2010.” Breast Cancer Campaign has eight places available on its running team so if you would like to apply for a place, or if you have a ballot place and would like to run for research, please call the Events team on 020 7749 3700 or email runners@breastcancercampaign.org before Wednesday 7 April 2010. As a Campaign runner you will automatically become a member of Linford’s All Stars – a new exclusive club captained by Linford Christie, who offers supporters helpful training tips and nutritional advice.
