Press release Local firm raises £50,000 for breast cancer charities An annual quiz night organised by a small accountancy firm in Cradley Heath, Sandwell, has raised a total of £50,000 for two breast cancer charities in ten years. Staff at Chartered Accountants Griffiths and Pegg have been holding the popular fundraising evening to raise money for Breast Cancer Campaign and Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer since 2001. The annual quiz night was masterminded by the firm’s partners, Adrian Grainger and Brian Arch, who wanted to support the charities after one of their colleagues, Rachel Clarke, was diagnosed with the disease. Up to 60 teams battle it out in the quiz each year, which takes place at the Copthorne Hotel in Merry Hill every November. As well as the quiz, there are also raffle prizes to be won and an auction held to help raise more money. This year’s 10th anniversary quiz, held on the 29 November, raised over £7,500. Adrian Grainger said: “It is a great achievement to have raised £50,000 for charity in just ten years. Both charities are very important to the practice and we are happy that we have been able to support them each year.” Angela Adams, Breast Cancer Campaign’s Community Fundraising Manager, said: “I can’t thank Griffiths and Pegg enough for their ongoing support. The money they have raised for Campaign helps us to continue to fund vital research into breast cancer. Thanks to Adrian and Brian, and everyone involved.” The money raised from the quiz night is shared equally between Breast Cancer Campaign and Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer. Breast Cancer Campaign is a charity that funds vital and innovative world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment and cure.
