The retired teacher and a team of friends The Hemlington Hoppers all colleagues working in Viewley Hill Primary School in Middlesbrough will join thousands of runners at the starting line on Sunday 5 September to support Helen’s aunt who is currently in remission from breast cancer. Helen said: “After seeing my aunt affected by breast cancer, I feel it is important to continue the fight against it. I also worked with a lovely lady who was struck with an aggressive form of breast cancer when she was 40, but has since given birth to a lovely healthy baby. This might not have been possible without all the new drugs that are now available due to breast cancer research. As well as running this race, my team and I are also going to trek the Great Wall of China for Campaign next year and we’re thrilled to have raised more than £10,000 to date. I hope lots of people will now sponsor us for this run and help the charity take a step closer to beating breast cancer.” The team have organised several fundraising events and the next big one is a Charity Ball to be held on 15 October 2010 at Gisborough Hall, they have booked a Michael Buble tribute act. Tickets cost £40 each. For more information contact Sue on 07983 603184.
