The Supporter Care Manager took on the Oriental challenge from 9 to 17 April to support the 48,000 people who are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year. Dawn was personally motivated to complete this challenge having lost both an aunt and an uncle to breast cancer and is currently supporting a close friend who was diagnosed last November aged 39. On the trip, Dawn and her 22 fellow trekkers covered over 50km of the Great Wall through scenic mountain ranges before ending at Beijing to explore the culture of China’s capital city. In total, Dawn and her group raised over £50,000 to help Breast Cancer Campaign fund innovative world-class breast cancer research. Dawn said: “It really was a trip of a lifetime - I saw a whole range of amazing sights in China and made some fabulous friends along the way. Although it was tough at times, we all stuck together and have returned with some unforgettable memories. I’m thrilled we raised so much money for Breast Cancer Campaign and would like to thank everyone who sponsored me for this very worthwhile cause. I’d definitely recommend the challenge to people as it really was a fantastic experience.” Breast Cancer Campaign have new exclusive trek to China from 1-9 April 2012 so if you have been inspired by Dawn’s story and would like to walk the Great Wall of China for breast cancer research, please call 020 7749 4114, email treks@breastcancercampaign.org or visit breastcancercampaign.org for more information.
