Press Release For immediate release: 27 April 2010 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Local postman’s marathon challenge to fund breast cancer research Budding runner Dean Keeber, from Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire pounded the pavements in London on Sunday (25 April) at the Virgin London Marathon for Breast Cancer Campaign. The Postman joined 36,000 runners for the 26.2 mile race after his father was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. Thankfully he has made a good recovery following treatment. Dean also ran in memory of his grandmother and wife’s grandmother who both sadly passed away from the disease. He completed the run in three hours 59 minutes and raised around £4,000 to fund breast cancer research. Dean said afterwards: “It was an amazing atmosphere and lots of people were shouting my name as I ran past. The Breast Cancer Campaign staff at mile 25 were brilliant, they really spurred me on for the last mile as I needed that extra push. I’m so pleased to finish it in under four hours and I’m thrilled the money I’ve raised will help the charity beat breast cancer.” Breast Cancer Campaign has lots of places available in runs throughout 2010 and 2011 so if you would like more information about running for Breast Cancer research, please call the Events team on 0207 749 3700 or visit www.breastcancercampaign.org.
