Press Release For immediate release: 28 April 2010 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Local runner’s marathon effort to beat breast cancer Budding runner Alex Agbamu from Buckhurst Hill, Essex pounded the London pavements on Sunday (27 April) at the Virgin London Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign. The lawyer joined 36,000 runners for the 26.2 mile race to support his wife Sabeena who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. He finished in four hours 16 minutes and raised around £2,000 for vital breast cancer research. Alex said afterwards: “This was my fourth marathon and it gets better every time. The cheering points made it more special. Seeing the Breast Cancer Campaign staff at the 25 mile mark gave my legs new life. It was a great day and was made more special by the fact that my wife, who has survived breast cancer, was there to meet me at the end.” Breast Cancer Campaign has lots of places available in runs throughout 2010 and 2011 so if you would like more information about running for Breast Cancer research, please call the Events team on 0207 749 3700 or visit www.breastcancercampaign.org.
