Press Release For immediate release: 1 February 2010 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Local runner’s marathon effort to fund breast cancer research Budding runner John Bowman, from Wickersley, Rotherham has pulled on his running shoes to train for the Virgin London Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign. The Police Officer will join thousands of runners at the starting line on Sunday 25 April to support his partner Kirste who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. John said: “Since her diagnosis Kirste has run many marathons all over the world so I thought I should support her, lose a few pounds and annoy her for the 26.2 miles of this marathon. We’ll be running side by side for breast cancer research and hope lots of people will dig deep to sponsor us on our challenge.” John Healey, MP for Wentworth, fully supports John’s marathon mission. He said: “I’m thrilled that John Bowman from my constituency is running the London Marathon for Breast Cancer Campaign to raise money for vital research into this disease. I wish him lots of luck and fully support his challenge for this very worthwhile cause to help the 46,000 people diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year.” To help John and Kirste reach their fundraising target of £5,000 please visit http://www.justgiving.com/TeamSnellgrove and donate what you can.
