Press Release For immediate release: 4 May 2010 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Local runner’s marathon effort to fund breast cancer research Budding runner Vicky Gardner from Denbigh, Conwy pounded the London pavements last month at the Virgin London Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign. Last year, Vicky ran the Great North Run for Campaign and decided to go one step further by tackling the 26.2 mile race on Sunday 25 April after her mother and sister both had breast cancer and to support three other friends affected by the disease. She finished in five hours 22 minutes and raised more than £1,500 for breast cancer research. She said afterwards: “I was delighted to finish inside my target time of five and half hours especially as I had some hip problems. I really enjoyed the run and it was a great atmosphere with lots of people cheering me on.” If you would still like to sponsor money and raise funds for research into breast cancer, please visit www.justgiving.com/Vicky-Gardner Breast Cancer Campaign has lots of places available in runs throughout 2010 and 2011 so if you would like more information about running for Breast Cancer research, please call the Events team on 0207 749 3700 or visit www.breastcancercampaign.org.
