Press Release For immediate release: 6 April 2011 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Local runner’s marathon effort to get fit and help beat breast cancer Budding runner Carla Maresca from Marlborough Grove, Southwark in London has been pounding the pavements in training for the Virgin London Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign. The Trusts and Foundations Manager will join thousands of runners for the 26.2mile race on Sunday 17 April to support the 48,000 people who are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year. Carla also started running to lose weight and has shed eight stone since 2008. She said: “I’m thrilled that my fitness regime has helped me to get in shape and I absolutely love running, so I’m excited to take on the London Marathon for this very worthwhile cause. Each year more than 12,000 people die from this disease so I’m determined to raise as much money as I can to help the charity continue funding vital research.” To help Carla reach her fundraising target of £520 please visit www.virginmoneygiving.com/CarlaMaresca and donate what you can. If you have a guaranteed place in this year’s Virgin London Marathon and would like to make a difference to the lives of all those affected by breast cancer, please join Carla on Campaign’s team. For more information, please call the Events team on 0207 749 4114 or visit www.breastcancercampaign.org There is no minimum sponsorship amount and each runner who signs up will receive a fundraising pack including a Breast Cancer Campaign running vest, sponsorship forms and lots of support from the charity on the day.
