Press Release For immediate release: 29 April 2010 Press contact: Louise Garrahan, Media Relations Officer, Breast Cancer Campaign, DD 0207 749 3724, Email: lgarrahan@breastcancercampaign.org Local runner’s race to beat breast cancer in memory of Mum Budding marathon runner Craig Minter, from Barnet, North London pounded the London pavements on Sunday (25 April) at the Virgin London Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign. The Accountant joined 36,000 runners for the 26.2 mile race in memory of his mother Merrilyn who sadly passed away from breast cancer June 2008. He finished in four hours 16 minutes and raised £2,250 to help fund vital breast cancer research. Craig, who is originally from Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, said afterwards: “It was one of the most amazing events I have ever been a part of. While it was very draining physically, mentally and emotionally, the support of friends, Breast Cancer Campaign cheer squads and the thousands of people that lined the streets was a great lift to help me get to the finish line. All in all an amazing experience that will be forever imprinted in my mind. To this I must thank Campaign for making it possible to achieve a lifelong dream while raising funds and awareness of a very worthwhile cause in memory of my mother.” Breast Cancer Campaign has lots of places available in runs throughout 2010 and 2011 so if you would like more information about running for Breast Cancer research, please call the Events team on 0207 749 3700 or visit www.breastcancercampaign.org.
